こえび隊初参加！First time participating in the Koebi-tai!第一次参加 Koebi-tai！（2025年5月24日）

先日ブログに書いた北川フラムさんとの出会いに背中を押されて、ついに「瀬戸内国際芸術祭」のボランティア、こえび隊に初めて参加してきました！

今回は中学校の友達2人を誘って、中学生3人組での挑戦です。

活動本番の前日に直島へ入ったのですが、その時の様子をレポートします。

雨の直島、中学生3人旅！

実は芸術祭に来るのは2度目。小学生の時に犬島や小豆島を回った時の「楽しかった！」という思い出が、今の私の原動力になっています。

当日の直島は、あいにくの雨でした。

春会期最後の土曜日ということもあって、予約がいっぱいの施設も多く、中学生の私たちは車も使えません。「なかなか思うように回れないね」なんて言いながらも、雨に負けず出発！

まずは宮浦港で草間彌生さんの「赤かぼちゃ」がお出迎え。

それからベネッセハウスミュージアムへ向かいました。友達と現代アートを見るのは初めてだったのですが、「3人とも作品の見方が全然ちがう！」というのが一番の発見でおもしろかったです。

その後、雨風に吹かれながら「黄色いかぼちゃ」もしっかり目に焼き付けてきました！

島の歴史を知るということ

宮浦港の近くで、直島の歴史を紹介する資料館に立ち寄りました。

そこで知ったのは、かつて島に精錬所があったこと、そしてその公害で島の木々が枯れてしまったという悲しい過去でした。

今の美しいアートの島からは想像もできない姿が、資料館にはきちんと記録されていました。「負の歴史」も隠さずに残されていることの価値について、3人で深く考えさせられる時間になりました。

ドキドキの「こえび寮」体験！

高松に移動して、いよいよ「こえび寮」へチェックイン。

スタッフの方は、私たちが高校生だと思っていたらしく「えっ、中学生！？」とびっくりされましたが、無事に泊めていただくことができました！

寮は昔の旅館を利用した建物で、街の中にあります。

去年の夏に行った「大地の芸術祭」の宿（三省ハウス）とは雰囲気は違うけれど、泊まっている人たちの温かさはそっくり！

小さなリビングには自然と人が集まっていて、なんと去年三省ハウスでご一緒した方に偶然再会するという奇跡も！

夕飯はコンビニで済ませる予定だったのですが、そこにいた方が作ったカレーをお裾分けしてくださって、心もお腹もいっぱいになりました。

明日はついにボランティア本番。

ドキドキするけど、精一杯がんばってきます！

 Heading to Naoiland! Three Junior High Students Taking on the "Koebi-tai" Challenge 

Hi everyone!

Inspired by my meeting with Mr. Fram Kitagawa, which I wrote about in my last post, I’ve finally participated in the "Koebi-tai"—the volunteer team for the Setouchi Triennale!

I invited two of my friends from school, so it’s a team of three junior high students. We arrived in Naoshima the day before our official volunteer work began. Here is a report on our trip!

Rainy Naoshima: A Journey for Three Junior High Students!

This was actually my second time visiting the Art Triennale. My memories of visiting Inujima and Shodoshima when I was in elementary school were so much fun, and those experiences are what drive my current activities.

Unfortunately, it was raining in Naoshima that day.

Since it was the last Saturday of the Spring Session, many facilities were fully booked. Plus, as junior high students, we couldn't use a car. "We can't really go around as planned, can we?" we said—but we didn't let the rain stop us!

First, Yayoi Kusama’s "Red Pumpkin" welcomed us at Miyanoura Port.

Then, we headed to the Benesse House Museum. It was our first time looking at contemporary art together, and our biggest discovery was that "all three of us see the same artwork in completely different ways!" It was so interesting.

After that, despite being buffeted by the wind and rain, we made sure to see the "Yellow Pumpkin" too!

Learning the History of the Island

Near Miyanoura Port, we stopped by a local history museum that introduces the history of Naoshima.

There, we learned a sad truth: the island once had a refinery, and the pollution from it caused the island's trees to wither away.

The museum preserved records of the island's past appearance, which is unimaginable from the beautiful "Art Island" we see today. The three of us spent some deep, reflective time thinking about the value of keeping records of this "negative history" without hiding it.

The Exciting "Koebi Dorm" Experience!

We moved to Takamatsu and finally checked into the "Koebi Dorm."

The staff seemed to think we were high school students and were shocked: "Wait, you're in junior high!?" But they were kind enough to let us stay!

The dorm is a building that used to be an old Japanese inn (ryokan) located in the city.

The atmosphere was different from Sansho House (the accommodation for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale last summer), but the warmth of the people staying there was exactly the same!

People naturally gathered in the small living room, and a miracle happened—I unexpectedly ran into someone I had met at Sansho House last summer!

We had planned to eat convenience store food for dinner, but someone there shared some homemade curry with us. It filled both our hearts and our stomachs.

Tomorrow is finally the big day for our volunteer work.

I’m nervous, but I’m going to do my very best!

出发前往直岛！中学生三人组的“小虾队”挑战记 

大家好！

受到上次博文中提到的与北川弗兰姆先生那次相遇的鼓舞，我终于参加了濑户内国际艺术祭的志愿者团队——“小虾队” (Koebi-tai)！

这次我邀请了学校里的两位好朋友，我们组成了三人中学生小队。在正式开展志愿者活动的前一天，我们先来到了直岛。下面就来分享一下我们的行程！

雨中的直岛，中学生三人的旅行！

其实这已经是我第二次参加艺术祭了。小学时去犬岛和小豆岛玩耍时那种“超级开心”的回忆，成了我现在各种活动的动力。

当天的直岛，遗憾地下着雨。

因为是春季展期的最后一个周六，很多设施的预约都满了，而且作为中学生的我们没法开车。“感觉没法按原计划逛了呢”，虽然嘴上这么说着，我们还是顶着雨出发了！

首先是在宫浦港迎接我们的草间弥生女士的**“红南瓜”。

接着我们去了倍乐生之家博物馆 (Benesse House Museum)。这也是我们第一次和朋友一起看现代艺术。我们最大的发现就是：“原来同样的作品，我们三个人的看法竟然完全不同！”** 这真的很有趣。

之后，尽管顶着风雨，我们还是去好好欣赏了那只著名的“黄南瓜”！

关于了解岛屿的历史

在宫浦港附近，我们参观了一间介绍直岛历史的资料馆。

在那里我们得知，直岛以前曾建有炼铜厂，当年的公害导致岛上的树木全部枯萎了，那是一段非常悲伤的过去。

资料馆里真实记录了岛屿曾经的样子，那是从现在这座美丽的“艺术之岛”完全无法想象的。对于这种不加掩饰地保留“负面历史”的价值，我们三个人在一起思考了很久。

心跳加速的“小虾宿舍”体验！

移动到高松后，我们终于办理了**“小虾宿舍”**的入住。

工作人员原本以为我们是高中生，看到我们时吓了一跳：“诶？是初中生吗？！” 虽说如此，最后我们还是顺利地住进去了。

宿舍是由以前的旅馆改造而成的，位于市区。

虽然这里的氛围和我去年夏天去“大地艺术祭”住的地方（三省House）不太一样，但住在这里的人们那种温暖的感觉是一模一样的！

在小小的客厅里，大家会自然而然地聚在一起聊天。竟然还发生了奇迹——我偶然遇到了去年在三省House认识的人！

我们原本打算晚饭就吃便利店，结果在那里的志愿者把亲手做的咖喱分享给了我们。真的是从胃到心里都感觉饱饱的。

明天终于就是志愿者活动正式开始的日子了。

虽然有点紧张，但我一定会竭尽全力去加油的！
